  • Speakers

  • Prof. Lígia Passos Maia Obi

Prof. Lígia Passos Maia Obi holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (Brazil), with a focus on Green Chemistry and Polymer Synthesis, and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Chemistry from the same institution. She is currently a Professor at the Federal University of ABC (Brazil), where she teaches and supervises undergraduate and graduate students. Her scientific research focuses on the synthesis of polymers and the use of carbon dioxide for the synthesis, impregnation, and modification of polymers to obtain functional materials. She also works to promote internationalization and collaboration with industry and judicial sector through consulting, teaching, and joint research projects. Prof. Maia Obi is currently a Visiting Researcher at the University of Liège (Belgium), working on Carbon Fixation in Degradable Polymers.

  • Dr. Tamoor Babur

Dr. Tamoor Babur is the Territory Manager for GPC/SEC solutions across EMEA at Tosoh Bioscience, specializing in advanced polymer and biomolecule characterization. He earned his Master’s and Ph.D. in polymer chemistry and characterization from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, completing his doctorate in 2017. His research focused on the structure and relaxation dynamics of comb-like polymers with rigid backbones, utilizing techniques such as DMA, XRD, and chromatography.

Following his Ph.D., Dr. Babur worked as a Development Chemist in the paints industry, gaining practical experience in applied polymer systems. Since joining Tosoh Bioscience in 2022, he has been responsible for driving business growth for GPC/SEC products and services, identifying new opportunities, and building strong client relationships. He collaborates closely with academia and industry to advance chromatographic technologies for molecular weight and structural analysis, enabling deeper insights into polymers, biopolymers, and other complex materials.

  • Dr. Subin Damodaran

Dr. Subin Damodaran received his doctorate in chemistry from Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany in 2016. During his PhD he was actively characterising various finished and semi-finished polymer products using spectroscopic and chromatographic methods. Since 2016, he joined as Product specialist and an integral part of the GPC team of Tosoh Bioscience. He is currently working as Product Manager for GPC/SEC instruments, columns and detectors produced by Tosoh.

  • Ing. Frank Vanderstraeten [SerCoLab]

Frank Vanderstraeten graduated as an Industrial Engineer in Chemistry with an option in Biochemistry in '91 at KIH Oostende. After selling bulkchemicals and ingredients for food he sold spectroscopy instrumentation (UV-Vis, IR, AAS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, HR-ICP-MS, and NMR) for Varian, then Thermo Fischer Scientific and Agilent. 8 Years ago he joined SerCoLab, specialised in custom made HPLC-solutions from Knauer and GPC- instrumentation from Tosoh Bioscience.
